With so many aspects of our lives now playing out online, from shopping to dating to talking on the phone, we are collectively leaving information about ourselves all over the web. DC-based startup Personal wants to help you reclaim your digital data. Their online and mobile service allows individuals to own what they like to call the Digital You.
Their premise is both timely and simple. With their service, organizations can only access your personal information with your consent, and they have to pay for it. So yes, you will benefit financially from this arrangement. Nice, huh?
Back in January, they closed on a $7.6 million Series A round of financing, co-led by Grotech Ventures and Steve Case’s Revolution, LLC. The round also included funding from media investment bank Allen & Company and Eric Semler of TCS Capital Management.
The service is currently in beta testing and available by invitation-only. You can sign up to receive an invitation to join on the home page of their website.
