Privacy by Design

Personal has been recognized as an Ambassador for the "Privacy by Design" Program. Privacy by Design principles are baked into Personal – both in how we protect your personal information and how you grant access to and share it.

Creating a secure, private environment

All sensitive data must be locked and unlocked with an owner-chosen password that Personal does not store and therefore, cannot access. Only you know the password that will unlock this information.

If you forget your password and need to reset it, your sensitive data will be deleted and you will need to re-enter it. This is done for your protection. Non-sensitive data will not be affected.

Encryption from browser to storage

Personal uses industry-leading 256-bit SSL encryption and HTTPS to ensure that there is no eavesdropping whenever data is transferred back-and-forth from your computer to Personal.

We also use an extra level of encryption for your sensitive information like social security numbers so that no one – not even our employees – can ever see it.

Ongoing security certifications

Personal is assured by independent security auditors including Verisign and McAfee Secure. We also constantly test for vulnerabilities and track emerging threats to stay far ahead of what the security auditors require.

No prying eyes

We don't allow others to track you while you're using Personal services, and we won't track you when you leave. We’ve also spent significant resources to avoid using third party analytics that "phone home" and reveal what you do on Personal. And we will never import your data from other sites without your explicit permission.

You control your data

On Personal, you are always in control of your data and can export and/or delete any of the data you store, at any time.
